NATO Headquarters

NATO Headquarters Building

There are opportunities to supply goods and services, funded by the Civil Budget (€191 million in 2008), which covers the day to day running costs of the existing NATO HQ complex in Brussels.  These include regular opportunities to supply both equipment and building services.

New NATO HQ Project

At the NATO 50th Anniversary Summit in Washington in April 1999, Heads of State and Government agreed to construct a new NATO Headquarters in Brussels: "to meet the requirements of the Alliance in the 21st Century".  Nations recognised that the current facilities were inflexible and had reached saturation point.  The current HQ was constructed on a temporary basis for 3-5 years in 1967 and has now been in service for over 40 years.

There will be many opportunities for UK companies to participate in the new NATO Headquarters project. The new c.190,000m² HQ will be built on a site opposite the current HQ in Brussels and will be project managed by the Belgian Ministry of Defence.  Demolition work on the new site has already started.  A notification of intent to invite bids for the construction contract was issued by the Belgian authorities in June 2008.

Further information on the project can be found on the official Belgian Defence website under the heading NATO HQ (EN).
