For more than 15 years, NATO has worked to develop its partnerships to the East and South. This outreach activity is central to NATO’s mission – contributing to stability in the Alliance’s neighbourhood; providing assistance to countries aspiring to NATO membership; expanding and intensifying political and military co-operation throughout Europe, and increasingly, to Mediterranean and Gulf countries.
