NATO Partners

For more than 15 years, NATO has worked to develop its partnerships with non-NATO countries. This outreach activity is central to NATO’s mission – contributing to stability in the Alliance’s neighbourhood; providing assistance to countries aspiring to NATO membership; expanding and intensifying political and military co-operation throughout Europe, and increasingly, to Mediterranean and Gulf countries, dealing with security issues of an increasingly global nature.  Many partners contribute to NATO's operations and missions, particularly in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
