UK Ambassador to NATO receives his Knighthood (30/10/2009)
Ambassador Stewart Eldon the UK's Permanent Representative to NATO, was awarded a KCMG in Her Majesty The Queen's Birthday Honours in June 2009. He visited Buckingham Palace for his investiture on 30 October 2009.
Ambassador Eldon was made a CMG in 1999. He took up his post at NATO in August 2006.
The UK honours system recognises exceptional achievement and service to the nation. There are three lists of honours: the Prime Minister’s List, the Diplomatic Service and Overseas List, and the Defence Services List. The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has particular responsibility for the Diplomatic Service and Overseas List . This list recognises service given overseas, or service in the UK with a substantial international component.
